I've used both of these phones. They were excellent back in the day. Their photographic camera was awesome (the bodily detail level wasn't the all-time, merely the focus speed & illumination was excellent for the time). Design was likewise good, particularly of the S7 Border, just it didn't provide a good grip, then we had to put a case on it which downgraded information technology's appearance. The battery life was also pretty good on the Edge. Pretty decent phones overall.

"corrected the mistakes of the by", only to have repeated the same mistakes a few years later on... To be honest, I LOVED the S7. The only downside was the microUSB port (which was due to the Samsung VR headset at the fourth dimension using microUSB and they couldn't update it with Type-C at the time, so this device had to be microUSB likewise). Simply I can non forgive Samsung for excluding microSD bill of fare support (and the exclusion of three.5mm jack-to a lesser extent), especially when their software quality matured And then MUCH at present. I'm in a dilemma now; get with Samsung to have no microSD or 3.5mm jack and fantastic software, or go with Sony to become mediocre software support just the ups of microSD and 3.5mm jack...

...and made quite a lot of its own mistakes. One of the starting time phones with the screen-distorting light-reflecting curved screen edges, I believe. Even notch is not that abrasive.

Samsung phones all the same don't accept IR Equalizer, and they used to take for every telephone they released. As of now, just Xiaomi and Huawei have IR Equalizer and my Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra does information technology all in every field and beats Milky way S21 Ultra. I had been Samsung'southward customer since S1 and my final phone was Note 9. I would purchase S serial and Note series every 6 months. Samsung lost me as a customer and Xiaomi always beats my expectation.

The pace upward to the S7+ model meant yous were getting a dainty big screen, but much smaller than today's devices, and excellent battery life. Information technology was the better option in my opinion, despite the price. Let'south not forget about the S7 camera was the best in its day.
This was trading blows with the Original Pixel, besting the HTC M9, and the elusive iPhone 6S.

Besides, the Exynos 8890 was the version to get.
Out of the box, information technology was faster. It was the version that allowed you to unlock the bootloader. If you tuned information technology, it used less power than the QSD 820. And there would exist many peachy community developments on it years to come (Custom drivers, kernels, roms, and mods). In that location are millions of users still out there, only check the xda forums. Bonus information, both chips were made past Samsung Foundries and you lot couldn't buy whatsoever QSD 820 devices (besides the S7) for the first 6-months since Samsung monopolised the chip supply for itself.

Everyone loathed the curved screens, but these were not every bit curved as today'south devices. Information technology was only tech journalists (ie Not-Professionals) who said it was slap-up. That and their advertisers. An expensive (+$fifty) glass protector from WhiteStone Dome was a necessity, as well as a decent case for the rear. None of these were necessary for the S7-Active, which was the best version, however, it sold so few units considering it was locked/exclusive to AT&T which wasn't even available in many parts of the Usa. We did lose the User Removable Battery, but a somewhat fair trade-off with IP67 waterproofing was accepted. The sound experience was average, the 3.5mm Headphone Jack had a decent DAC, only that bottom-facing monospeaker was weak. And Samsung's insistence to utilize the microUSB 2.0 (with Host/Otg) was a letdown to many fans who wanted to go it with TypeC 3.0 port.

Besides these three setbacks, it was an uncompromised device. A definite upgrade from the S5, S6, and Note6 options. And a worthwhile sidegrade to the likes of the legendary Note iv-Exynos. And possibly the best Android device of the year, with side by side year'southward competitors non having much of an comeback (some were worse). That's why the S7+ Exynos holds a warm spot in retentivity, along side the S10+ Snapdragon.

Personally, I think overall the ZTE Axon vii was the best telephone of 2016, with the iPhone 6S+ coming a shut second, and the S7+ Exynos coming a shut third. This was a great year for phones, subsequently the clusterfud that was 2015, and the pinnacle imho being the 2014 Smartphone Wars.

Nexus One, 06 Feb 2022Samsung nonetheless made skillful phones since the S7... S8 S9 S10e Notation 8 Note nine Notation x S21 U... more thanI don't agree completely. Samsung grew famous in the smartphone industry for its infrequent hardware. The term used to depict Samsung smartphones was "everything and the kitchen sink." The smartphones had everything, including novel tech that many (specially Apple and Sony fans) decried as gimmicks.

This is why they sold so well fifty-fifty when they had sh*t software support and the worst UI and operation of all the and then major OEMs.

Samsung has lost that identity. To their credit, software support, UI, and performance has improved drastically. But they aren't the hardware champ that made them a people favorite. Now, how much of that is due to the Note 7 fiasco is debatable--Samsung ceased lamentatory their hardware and accelerated the removal of features after that incident.

Fifty-fifty then, I recall how long it took Samsung to alter the 12 MP lens on their flagships.

The Due south series only saw big changes afterward ii years, similar from S6 to S7, look at the S8 very big changes with specs. S8 to S9? no that much, S10 fix it and attempt looking at S21 to S22? but the same.
